next steps

please understand, the last thing we want is a fight. we all have other animal rescue responsibilities we'd love to devote more time to. but we need to make sure josie is safe, and since the person who has her refuses to prove it to us, we will continue the search. we will be heavily flyering the area we believe josie to be in, and contacting the vets in that area. there is still a large reward offered for josie's safe return.

and to the person who has josie...you and only you have the power to end this. just let us see the dog. that's all we want.

Lost Dog KY (this is a crosspost)

http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=5714494

This is our Cindy Brady.Cindy was at 2490 Shaw Creek Road, Big Clifty, KY when she was lost on Friday.

She has on a fabric collar and a blue leash is trailing behind her. It is a remote area near the Grayson and Hardin County lines. Please contact us if you see her in any animal control facility or if you receive any report of her. She will come to us and any other shelter volunteer but will most likely not approach a stranger. She seems to warm up to a soft spoken person easier than anyone. The smaller the stature the better.

She is a wonderful young dog and deserved better than her adoptive home and better than this.

Please call the shelter at 270-230-8839 Hardin Co animal shelter for leads or any suggestions for us. Thank you.

.
She is not microchipped and I think she did not have her rabies tag on this collar. She is spayed.

There is also the new yahoogroup for k9amber alert. You might want to also post her information there. Good luck, I hope she is found safe and sound.

Another crosspost on a missing cat, Ohio.

This cat is a Siamese mix. She is light colored and has stripes on her face and sides. She was lost in the Jeffersonville,OH area. This is between Cincinnati and Columbus on I71/35 at the exit #60. This family is devastated. Please take a moment and say a prayer that they find her. The father of this family is one of our soldiers. They are going to camp out tonight (Sunday) where the cat was lost hoping they can find her.)
On our way to Ohio from KY, we stopped at McDonald's for a potty break. While there our cat, Pickles the cat, got out of the car without my knowing. How this happened I will NEVER know?!?! I didn't realize she was even missing until I was up the road about an hour or so. I am so sick to my stomach thinking about where she could possibly be.
I have a flyer attached that we have handed out in the area. If you could kindly post this poster in your area or local vet office or animal shelter, grocery store, ANYWHERE we would GREATLY appreciate it. Also, if you know other people no matter what state, please email this to them. You never where she may end up if someone picked her up.

We are completely heartbroken, especially my 3 yr old daughter!!! We

were traveling up to be with family so we could celebrate her birthday! And we never travel without Pickles, she's part of our family. We miss her SOOO much. PLEASE HELP!!!
Thank you so much.

Why should there be such a problem with somebody checking on Josie in person? She was on her way to a safe place, an accident happened and now they just want to verify that she’s alright.

Most rescuers consider animals like kids with fur. They feel concerned and protective over something that is smaller than them and can’t speak for themselves. Would you treat a child like this? Sure some people might consider comparing an animal to a child is ridiculous, but I know a lot that love their pets with all their heart and soul and would grieve for them almost as much as they would a child. So I repeat would you treat a child like this? Would you just take the word of somebody you’d never heard of and know nothing about that someone or something you cared for and were caring for was alright?

Unless you’re in rescue you can’t really understand the horrors that happen constantly. Sure you might here about a few occasionally, read a passing article, but how much actually gets seen by the public. Not even a percentage worth. From the people that cut cats heads off, kids that douse animals in gas and set fire to them, people that beat/shoot an animal because they’re mad at the owner to the “lesser” atrocities of neglecting their vet visits until they’re so full of worms there’s no room left in their stomachs for food or even neglect to feed them at all or the ones that live outside never to socialize with the family that supposedly loves them. Or how about the hoarders that completely believe they are helping and totally loving their animals because they’re not roaming the streets or in a shelter, but these same animals are living in their own filth, surrounded by their dead brothers and sisters and yet still breeding more and more because there’s too many to take care of let alone get spayed or neutered.

How would you feel if you were elbows deep in dealing with these tragedies day after day? Desperately trying to save these animals, knowing the next day was going to be just more of the same. Your heart breaking for every little soul you can’t save, or body you can’t mend. Then an accident happens with one of the few you’ve been able to find a safe place for. She slips her collar on the way to a new home. After all the trauma she’s been through in her past how is she supposed to realize the humans around her were only trying to help. Only had her best interests at heart. She won’t come to them and runs away. (how like a hurt innocent) These people are terrified for her and knowing what can happen, desperate to find her. They search and search, even those that have never met her. Hours and days, then word that she’s been found. Yeah! But it’s only an anonymous email. How to know for sure? A picture helps. Yes, that’s probably her, but look the hair’s a little different and the ears off just a bit. Imagination? Could be just the camera angle or the result of a good bath and brushing. And the spay stitches they would probably have been infected after her running around. Is she healthy, is she really happy? They say she is, but so many horrors out there. So many people saying they truly love their pets, but….. Then the simple request for an actual visit is denied. Why? This is normal rescue procedure for any adoption. How can it not be after knowing and seeing so many worse case scenarios? There’s nothing sinister about it. No hidden agenda. Nothing but a desire to physically see that Josie is loved and in a safe environment. Are they hiding something then? Is it really Josie; is she really happy like they say? Now even more fear for Josie builds. Why can’t someone come see her?

Why???

I personally have no stake in this, but fail to see any reason that this should be such hard request to grant.

So, I'm trying to keep up with this... and after reading SEVERAL comments, I'm confused...
Did the new 'family' really send pics in or not?????
- Christina in AL

Yes, the new family did send pics, however, it is still very hard to confirm 100 percent that its Josie since camera angles, colors, etc..are hard to depict from in person to email photos.

Was Josie pregnant?
Did she have any special markings that only she would have?

Another question on Re: special markings that only she would have...
I think I've gathered that Josie had just been spayed prior to transport (still had stitches), so pregnancy would be a negative. So... what if this family would send you pics of her incision wound-or what's left of it...(I'm getting to the point of wouldn't it have been a worse looking incision than normal, considering she was not seen by a vet for removal of the stitches and could have developed a possible infection.) I know that kinda gross, but that maybe the only 'special marking' that was known to her...
just an idea...
